Students have had the opportunity to participate in workshops with Moscow Ballet; English National Ballet; Independent Ballet Wales; Ballet Boyz and others.
No experience is necessary; all students are graded according to age and experience.

Musical Theatre

From Hair to Hairspray and GaGa to Godspell we sing pop, classics and all the great hits from stage and screen. Our group have performed in many local and professional productions including Lullaby of Broadway, Abba Mania, Dana, Move It Shake It, It's Chriiistmas and of course our seasonal pantomimes at the Queen's Theatre.

Acrobatics and Acrobalance

Acrobatic students have taken part in many performances and productions including the Fysical circus theatre project, Ilfracombe Musical Productions and Sea Ilfracombe celebrations.

You do not need a high level of flexibility or gymnastic skills. We are looking for reliable team members with a sense of humour and tenacious character.
There is a high risk of accident and injury during these classes and projects (eg. bumps, bruises and muscle fatigue)

Drama

Make the Move drama club runs on Wednesday evenings 7pm-9pm during term time. As well as productions (which have included Caucasian Chalk Circle, Dazzle, Mr Macaroni and the Exploding Pizza Pie) the focus of the group is to develop our young people stage-craft. Through workshops and role-playing we improve skills in acting technique, technical theatre, stage management, script writing , monologue delivery, voice projection in a lively and relaxed environment. MTM Drama have recently presented an outdoor family fun day with original text developed through their own improvisations as part of North Devon Festival and have also written, created, filmed and edited a short film comedy.

Our gang have access to opportunities both within our organisation and out of it, including film work, participation in local productions and North Devon Theatres' pantomimes. There is also regular access to free/subsidised tickets to performances. You also get to hang out with some seriously potty people ... it's great fun!

Tap and Jazz

Children from 3 can join one of our ISTD tap classes which run from pre-primary through to Advanced. There is even a class for adults on Tuesday evenings which is both fun and a great way to keep fit.

Modern classes run from Grade 1 suitable for 5 year old up to Grade 5. Modern classes are complemented by open jazz classes for juniors and seniors where the emphasis is on performance skills and choreography rather than technique. Those students taking an open jazz class should also take at least one class in either modern or ballet. These classes have led to performances in both professional and local shows. Students are able to take ISTD exams in both Tap and Modern.

Examinations will incur additional costs for classes, uniform hire and exam fees. For more information, please contact Carol Turner on 01271 869216.
