*UPDATE* Urgent plea to help support creative talent in North Devon - application date extended

North Devon Theatres are delighted to have been successful in gaining a place on The Big Give’s Private Match Fund 2015!

The Theatres are raising funds towards their Performing Arts Education programme, which offers creative opportunities to thousands of local people every year.

*UPDATE* The clock is ticking, however as the Theatres only have until Friday 30 October at 5pm (extended from last week) to raise £2,500 to participate in the Big Give.

Generous donors have already pledged £1,500 to the scheme, now the Theatres are asking anyone who can to make pledge of £100 or more to please do so online.

North Devon Theatres’ Development Manager, Jo Griffiths said: “We have already secured pledges of £1,500, so are over halfway towards the target we must hit by Friday in order to participate.  Your help could really make all the difference to our success and to the young people we support.”

Jo said “If successful in raising the £2,500 pledge target, we will then have the chance to double our pledgers’ donations when the Big Give Christmas Challenge goes live on 4th and 5th December. So anyone making a pledge today can be assured we will be working hard to double their donation in December.  It also means anyone not able to make a pledge of over £100 will still be able to support us in December, as the minimum donation in December will be just £10”

Theatre Director, Alan Dodd said:  “The rural, low paid economy in North Devon creates a number of barriers for people to access the arts. Cuts to other services which have traditionally provided creative opportunities to the community have been decimated in recent years.

“Our programme includes a wide range of art forms. The Landmark Theatre is turned into a hive of activity, energy and inspiration as our participants attend their sessions, school holiday projects, workshops and residencies with artists. Students can attend to develop personal skills, to gain a qualification, or to develop the skills and experience required for a future career in the arts”

A web page detailing all the reasons why people might like to help support our Performing Arts Education Programme during the Big Give Campaign has been set up  here.

You can make a pledge by clicking here before 5pm on Friday

Please note that it is only possible to pledge or give on-line.  If you would like help in making a pledge please contact Jo Griffiths directly in the office at the Queen’s Theatre today (Wednesday) and tomorrow (Thursday) this week – she will also be available (out of office at the Cedars Business Show but with laptop in tow) on Friday from 10.30 – 3pm.

Jo said: “I feel I speak for all our staff, volunteers and beneficiaries of our Education Projects when I say that we would be sincerely grateful for any help or financial support you feel able to give. Many thanks and do call or mail me if you have any questions.”
