Virtual Tour of The Landmark

Virtual Tour of The Landmark

A bold and exciting building set off by the rugged North Devon coastline - the Landmark lives up to its name in many ways.
The performers arrive at the Stage Door with easy access for scenery trucks and equipment.
The Landmark dressing rooms are, like the rest of the building, purpose built - they are light and spacious.
While the performers are settling in, the crew start sorting out the scenery and props backstage. The ease of manouevrability backstage at the Landmark is a great asset.
Similarly, the lighting technicians are setting the lights for the performance. No two productions are the same and lighting designers specify the requirements in great detail.
The lighting changes, any sound effects and music are controlled from the control box at the back of the auditorium. Occasionally a sound desk is added in the middle of the auditorium.
The stage is in two main sections. The front 'apron' can be lowered to create an orchestra pit.
The cleverly designed mechanicals underneath the moving apron allow services such as lighting and sound cables to remain attached when the section is lowered and raised.
The performer is about to make their entrance. Waiting for your cue is a daunting prospect looking out from the darkened wings to the brightly lit stage. Finally, the performer steps out into the limelight (nowadays electric light!) to face the 'smell of the audience and the roar of the greasepaint'.
About to step into the public eye, the Landmark auditorium is as breathtaking inside as it is outside.
Front of house, the Box Office.
Before the performance, or during the interval, you can enjoy a drink in the Rendezvous.
The Rendezvous is open for pre-performance meals. It is also the venue for exhibitions of local artists' work.
Take your seats in the auditorium. Access for wheelchair users is easy. There is also a system installed for people who are hard of hearing.
The Pavilion provides a multi-purpose venue for meetings, dances, music events, conferences and functions. It is a beautiful space open to the top of the tower with dayloight filtering through the suspended fabric sculptures.
