Why Support Us

North Devon Festival is organised by North Devon Theatres’ Trust – – a registered charity and a not-for-profit company. The Festival has grown into a significant national and South West event and, whilst most festivals span a weekend or a week at most, we host multi-arts events every day throughout June, making our Festival the biggest cultural and community experience in the North Devon calendar. The Festival celebrates North Devon’s diverse and vibrant cultural life with its wealth of art, music, theatre, heritage, sport, lifestyle, and natural environment.

The wide range of quality events across several stranded themes generates a national profile for the region, as well as attracting considerable regional and local coverage.

“It is the mix of top quality arts and entertainment, the familiar and eagerly anticipated blockbuster events, and the variety of community involvement throughout the region that makes the Festival so special. Added to this, is the fact that many of our events are inspired by and set against the most spectacular landscape and coastline that any festival could offer.” Alan Giddings, Artistic Director, North Devon Festival

In June 2010 there were 110,606 attendances at over 200 Festival events, 37% of these were from visitors to the region.  The Festival is a significant economic contributor, generating £9.5m to the local economy in 2010 alone, despite the economic slowdown.

The Festival is a key element in encouraging strong & inclusive communities: through its ethos of celebrating local identity, the Festival encourages involvement at all ages and levels and seeks to open up opportunities for all to experience quality, exciting and challenging activity.

It has always been impressive that so many people get involved with the Festival; 145 organisers of community events and their army of volunteers, who together clocked up a staggering 17,555 hours.  Not only are the events exceptional and fully grounded in their localities, they raise a terrific amount of funds for charities; this year it was over £86,000.

All this and more can only be achieved through the generous support of corporate partnerships, charitable trust funding, public sector grants and advertisers.
